Imiquimod ( Aldara ) fantastic immunmodulating drug

Imiquimod is used to treat certain skin growths or tumors,as actinic keratosis ,it is also effective in tratment of

basal cell carcinoma,and treatment of  warts on the genital area , bowens disease, superficial squamous cell 

carcinoma.there are multi tests run to use in other cancer as  vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia .

methods to use : applied to clean, intact skin. Wash the affected area with mild soap and water and let your skin
dry completely for about 10 minutes before you put on the cream ,avoid touch  lips, mouth, nostrils, or

eyes.  imiquimod, has tow different concentrations of the drug (5% and 3.75%). The more-concentrated cream

(5%) is used for cancer, genital warts, and actinic keratoses. The less-concentrated drug (3.75%) is used only for

actinic keratoses.

mechanism of act:
(1  innate immune system through the toll-like 

receptor 7,which involved in pathogen recognition.

cell  activated by imiquimod via TLR-7

secrete cytokines as interferon alfa (INF-

α), interleukin_6 and tumor necrotic factor.

(2   activation of Langerhans cells, natural

killer 

cells, macrophages and B-lymphocytes.

side effects:they are little as

skin redness, dryness scaling of skin,sunburns on treated areas
